The City of Greater Sudbury is advising that the proposed 2014 development charges by-law and draft background study are now available for viewing online and at Citizen Service Centres.
Development Charges are levied against new residential and non-residential development, and are a source of funding to recover growth-related capital expenditures. City services include water, wastewater, roads, drains, police and public safety, general government, libraries, cemeteries, fire, recreation, emergency services and transit.

On Thursday April 17th at 2 pm, a 21 year old Sudbury man was in the washroom at Tim Hortons on Cedar St., Sudbury when 2 men came in after him. They began assaulting him by kicking, punching and striking him with an object repeatedly as they dug through his pockets taking his money. The victim also had his hand bitten by one of the suspects.

Mélanie-Rose Frappier, a grade 11 student at École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur in Sudbury, was honoured during the Gathering Our Voices 2014 Aboriginal Youth Conference. Held in Vancouver from March 18 to 21, this conference brought together some 2,000 youths (14 to 24 years of age) as well as presenters and guests.
