(SUDBURY,ON) – On June19, 2014 at 4:30 a.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer on Highway 17, Sudbury.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service continues to address Impaired Driving reminding members of our community to always arrange for safe alternative transportation.

At the Police Services` Board Meeting of June 11th, the Police Service was proud to receive the Certificate of Achievement for Phase One of the i3 Consulting Model, which is offered through Public Services Health and Safety Association (PSHSA).

(ALBAN, ON) – On Monday June 16, 2014 shortly after 11:30 pm, officers from the Noelville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision involving a Honda All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The collision occurred on North Channel Rd in the Municipality of French River.

As a result of the motor vehicle collision that took place on 17 June 2014 on the LaSalle Extension, the driver, Zachery Turpin (25yrs) has succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is still ongoing by the Traffic Management Unit.

(SUDBURY, ON) – Members of the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in partnership with members from the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) will be working together for Operation Corridor, an important annual highway safety initiative that raises awareness among commercial vehicle drivers about safe operation and maintenance of transport trucks and other large commercial vehicles.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service wants to remind the public of on-going complaints involving bears.

 The ongoing R.I.D.E. Program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving.  R.I.D.E. checks are intended to target high-incident / high-complaint areas.

On Thursday June 12th at 6:30 pm, there was a fight in a building on Lloyd Street, Sudbury. Neighbours called police upon hearing the scuffle involving three men who had been drinking together in an apartment.

Update - June 11th, 2014 - When the male suspect left the bank, he left a device behind. The nature of the device caused Police concern as the male had alleged he was in possession of an explosive device.
